For 2018, Netflix will bring back Jessica Jones and other Marvel superheroes, as well as new original series that will leave you open-mouthed.
Surely Netflix subscribers are very hurt by the unforeseen cancellations that had to do the company. But the farewell to Sense8 and The Get Down: Part 2 will give light to new original content in the streaming platform.
In 2017, Netflix announced 104 programs, films and specials, as well as claiming that it will continue to invest in local content, “focusing on local content that travels across regions or across multiple territories such as Japanese anime and Turkish dramas”. Similarly, this year’s budget for the original content is US $ 6,000 million, so surely the series that we will see below and which will be released in 2018 are within this budget:
Lost in Space
Netflix decided to do a reboot of the original Lost in Space series, which was broadcasted between 1965 and 1968. The science fiction and comedy series will have a much darker tone than the original streaming platform. It will feature performances by Parker Posey, Toby Stephens, Jaffrey Race and Molly Parker

Alias Grace
To compete with The Handmaid’s Tale, Hulu’s original series, Netflix will release Alias Grace, which as the Hulu series; will also be based on a novel by Margaret Atwood. The original Netflix will be a mini series of six chapters, and its synopsis is as follows:
A gentle woman condemned by a brutal murder in the 1840s in Canada, obsession becomes a young doctor.
The Netflix original will feature performances by Sarah Gadon, Edward Holcroft, Zachary Levi, Kerr Logan, and Anna Paquin.
Arrested Development
The series starring Will Arnett, Michael Cera and Portia de Rossi, returned to Netflix for a fourth season in 2013. It was recently revealed that the series will begin production of its fifth season in July this year, where the plot will revolve around a story that will make feel very close. So said Mitchell Hurwitz, creator of the series:
“In discussions we had with Netflix, we all felt that storie’s about a narcissistic family, and erratic behavior in the real estate business – and their desperate abuse of power – really are not well represented on television today”.
Marvel Series
After three years of the release of Jessica Jones, finally in 2018 we will see its second season.
The third season of Daredevil and the second season of Luke Cage also arrive in 2018.
Regarding The Defenders – where we will see Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist – it has not been revealed if there will be a second season, since the first season will be released in August this year.
Love
The series that debuted last year on the leading platform of SVOD, and worth a look due to the performances of its protagonists, Gillian Jacobs and Paul Rust, will return with its third season for 2018. The official synopsis is following:

Samantha!
The series is a Brazilian comedy and follows closely to Samantha, “a child star in the decade of the eighties of the last century who clings to what remains of fame, and has a sweeping plan to return to the top”.
Tidelands
This will be the first original Australian series of Netflix. The series will be a supernatural drama and will begin production in 2018, so it is expected to be released later that year. The original follows closely a former criminal who returns home, in the small fishing village of Orphelin Bay. When the corpse of a fisherman who lived in the town is discovered, she must uncover the secrets of the town while investigating its strange inhabitants, a group of dangerous beings half sirena and half human, called “Tidelanders”.
Kingdom
The series is the second Korean original of the streaming platform. Written by Kim Eun-Hee, it will feature eight episodes and will be set in the medieval era of the Joseon Dynasty where a Crown Prince is sent on a suicide mission to investigate a mysterious zombie outbreak that leads to a brutal truth that threatens the kingdom.
The Rain
This Scandinavian series will be the first original of the platform to be broadcasted in all countries where it has subscribers. The synopsis is as follows:
Ten years after a brutal virus has wiped out most of the inhabitants of Scandinavia, two young brothers embark on a search for security. Only guided by their father’s notebook explaining the virus and the dangers of this new world, they begin a dangerous journey across the country, joining a group of other young survivors. Facing great dangers, the group must quickly realize that the greatest danger does not come from outside; but within the group.
