A reboot of the long-running and extremely popular video game series “Tomb Raider” was released in 2013. It became an instant critical and commercial hit. But it also reinvigorated interest in a rebooted movie version as well.
For those of us who grew up in the early 2000s, Angelina Jolie (Sigh!) immortalized the cinematic iteration of the title character of a raider of tombs and treasure hunter in “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” in 2001 and its sequel “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life” in 2003. The movies, though critical duds, were commercially successful and served enjoyable popcorn fun, owed no less to Jolie’s charisma and star-power.
Now a new movie version with Oscar winner Alicia Vikander is ready to be served to viewers around the globe and Warner Bros. has released the first poster and the teaser for the same. Check them out below:

From the looks of it, Vikander seems to have inhabited the rebooted Lara Croft character and the story seems to be hovering closer to the reboot as well.
Norwegian director Roar Uthaug, known for his tense thriller “The Wave” has directed the reboot and it is scheduled to release on March 16, 2018.
Whether the movie is able to do justice to its source material or will it join countless other failed cinematic adaptations of video-games, is something only time will tell.
For now, let us know what you think of Vikander’s badass avatar in the comments below!
