When it comes to the DC Universe, there is a lot riding on the infamous reboot led by James Gunn. While there are still a few movies before it begins, such as the upcoming ‘The Flash,’ people are eager to learn more about what is happening when it comes to casting the titular character of Superman.
Clark Kent was previously played by Henry Cavill, and while fans adored him in the role, some of the films he appeared in were flops. So a new reboot is in the works, and it will be titled Superman: Legacy. While we don’t know much about the plot, we do know that the film will revolve around a younger Clark Kent and Lois Lane.
Top contenders for the role of Superman include Nicholas Hoult and David Corenswet.
Many names have been floated in relation to Superman’s casting, but for the time being, we know that these two actors are the top contenders for this infamous role. However, when it comes to the role of Lois Lane, the waters become even murkier. We recently learned that Rachel Brosnahan delivered an outstanding performance, but Emma Mackey, who plays Maeve in Sex Education, has also been mentioned.
While many fans would like to see Rachel play Lois Lane, her age of 32 contradicts James Gunn’s vision of the film, which is set in a time when the characters are quite young, and she may not be the best actor for the role. This is a very important movie for James Gunn as he has a soft spot for the character of Superman, as evidenced by his comments below.
I completely relate to Superman because he’s everything I am. He’s somebody who is an outsider who feels like an alien, but also the ultimate insider, because he’s f**king Superman. And that’s kind of like what I feel like.
