In a delightful reunion, Hollywood stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jimmy Fallon take a stroll down memory lane as they recall their audition experience for Nancy Meyers’ beloved film, ‘The Holiday.’ Sharing candid and amusing anecdotes, the two actors delve into the humorous aspects of their tryouts for the iconic romantic comedy.
Downey Jr. and Fallon’s Hilarious Audition Mishap for ‘The Holiday’
During The Howard Stern Show, Downey Jr. and Fallon recalled their comedic audition blunder for the romantic comedy ‘The Holiday.’
“We both got called in just as seat-fillers and we saw each other. Jack Black is getting his part and Jude Law is definitely getting my part, but [Meyers] needed someone to read with the gals, and we’re sitting there going, ‘It’s about to happen for us.'”Robert Downey Jr.
Fallon humorously added;
“I was in a hotel room with Robert Downey Jr., Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet, and we read this script… I said, ‘If Jack Black says no to this movie, I’m so in. I’ll do it for half his price.”Jimmy Fallon
Hilarious Audition Stories from Downey Jr. and Fallon for ‘The Holiday’
During auditions for ‘The Holiday,’ Downey Jr. attempted a British accent, but Kate Winslet called it “the worst I’ve ever heard.” Humorously, Downey Jr. remarked that he was ready to leave the audition, jokingly taking the gummy bears from the minibar with him.
On the other hand, Fallon was in awe of Downey Jr.’s acting skills and proclaimed it was the best scene he had ever performed with an actor.
Following the auditions, Fallon decided to quit auditioning for roles altogether. Released in 2006, ‘The Holiday’ starred Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Jack Black.
