Michael McDonald, renowned in the television industry, has made notable career moves. Prior to joining Amazon Studios, he worked as a consultant for HBO Max and held the position of Head of Scripted Television at John Legend’s Get Lifted Film Co.
McDonald’s impressive nine-year tenure at ABC Studios included overseeing the development of successful series like Nashville and playing a vital role in hit shows like Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives, Reaper, and Commander in Chief.
He also worked as the Vice President of Current Series, supervising the launches of popular series such as Revenge and Scandal.
Michael McDonald’s Growth From Head of Drama to Launching His Own Company
Michael McDonald established his own company, Stearns Castle, in 2013. He then went on to become an executive producer for projects such as American Crime, Guerilla, and Monarca. Prior to this, McDonald worked at UPN, overseeing the development of Kevin Hill and Veronica Mars, as well as managing current programming for Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
He initially made his mark in the industry as Vice President of Television at Sam Raimi’s Renaissance Pictures, producing acclaimed series Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.
