When the Witcher series, starring Henry Cavill, was first announced, there was a lot of excitement. Fans of the books and games awaited the series with bated breath, and it did not disappoint. However, this was only the beginning, and as the show progressed, people became increasingly concerned about where it was leading.
I’m sure you’ve seen the protests that took place because the show was separating itself from the books and its source material quite a bit, which didn’t give fans much hope. Henry Cavill, on the other hand, wanted the show to be as true to the source material as possible, which led to his departure from the show for good.

People were outraged by this decision, but it hasn’t stopped The Witcher’s showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich from doing what she wants with the series at the end of the day. This has also resulted in another spin-off series in the works, which is finally getting underway.
While we don’t yet know what the title of this new series will be. What we do know is that it will be centred on The Rats, a criminal gang that pulls off some daring heists. Not only that, but this will be a prequel, as we know Ciri met The Rats in season 3 of the show and began a romantic relationship with one of its members, Mistle.
There isn’t much information available about this spin-off series.

The series’ working title was reported to be Riff Rats in November 2022, but that is subject to change. At this point, all we can do is wait and see what happens with The Witcher franchise’s future.
