James Gunn Says That Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4 Will Only Happen Under 1 Condition

The Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy is finally complete, and fans couldn’t be happier. Despite the fact that James Gunn was fired by Marvel and went to work for their main rival DCEU, he was brought back to film the titular third film in the Guardians of the Galaxy saga. As of now, this film has earned more than $282 million in total, which is a significant boost for Marvel.

This means that a volume 4 is almost certainly in the works. However, James Gunn will not be working on it, which has given some fans a bad taste in their mouth. After all, one of the main reasons this franchise became so popular was because James Gunn brought a distinct sense of style that could not be replicated. But that is exactly what he wants when asked about another Guardians of the Galaxy sequel.

Jame Gunn only wants The Guardians Of The Galaxy sequel to happen under one condition.

He reportedly desired to bring the franchise to an epic conclusion, which he accomplished. He wouldn’t mind a sequel, but only if the new director “brings themselves to it, and doesn’t just copy that style.”

However, fans will have to agree to disagree with this viewpoint, as many Twitter users stated that they are satisfied with the epic conclusion and do not want another one if it means jeopardising the end of this film.

We’ll be talking about spoilers after this, so be warned.

Jame Gunn also spoke extensively about how he came up with the ending to this film.

He allegedly always intended for the franchise to end with Rocket in command. When asked about it, he said the following.

As I mused upon it, I started thinking about how this was the saddest creature in the universe, and that was actually the seed to me for the entire Guardians trilogy.

That was my way into it, was this underpinning of just isolation and sadness and all of these characters are isolated and sad.

So I knew what Rocket’s backstory was from that moment; before I had come up with the rest of that stuff for Volume 1, it was the first thing I came up with.
