Games compete with movies and TV shows with epic storylines and beautiful ‘camera work,’ but this comes at a cost. Games are now significantly more expensive than they were previously. Many gamers recall the days when two pixels on a screen playing tennis were considered a game. However, we now have storylines that span hundreds of hours, with graphics that appear to be ripped straight from reality.
With all of this technological advancement and actors transitioning to the gaming industry to lend their faces and voices to some of our favourite characters, it is no surprise that game budgets are skyrocketing. This is where Rockstar Studios enters the picture. Nobody hasn’t heard of them, as even non-gamers are familiar with the GTA series.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is said to have a $2 billion budget.
While there is no definitive answer, there is speculation that the newest GTA will have a massive marketing, production, and distribution budget. Their previous big-budget games, such as GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, were also quite expensive, so this isn’t entirely surprising.
However, if the tweets about the alleged budget are correct, GTA 6 will be the most expensive game ever made. To put it into perspective, it would require a larger budget than Infinity War, Endgame, and Avatar 1 and 2.
GTA 6 has been in development for quite some time.
Fans are still waiting for word on when the new game will be released, despite the fact that GTA Online is still going strong. Fans, on the other hand, are very excited for the upcoming release. If Rockstar’s previous statements are any indication, this new game will outperform even RDR 2, which would be an accomplishment in and of itself.
There is also word that the open world map in this release will be twice the size of the previous one, which is an incredible feat. And knowing Rockstar, it’ll be jam-packed with intriguing side activities that will help us immerse ourselves in the world Rockstar has created for us.
