The villain

The second season of Supergirl ended in episode 2×22. In it we saw a flashback that took us 35 years ago, to the day Krypton died. And it is then that we see mysterious Kryptonians introducing a baby into a ship sentencing that it will arrive at the Earth “and it will reign”. There is the key.

It is not another character than Reign, one of the greatest villains of DC Comics, who will face Kara in season 3 of ‘Supergirl’. In the comics, Reign is one of the five Worldkillers, allenenigenas captured by Kryptonians to experiment with them and turn them into powerful biological weapons. To interpret it, it has been announced the signing of the actress Odette Annable, who was protagonist of the film ‘The seed of the evil’ and to whom more recently we have seen in the series ‘Pure genius’.

Sanvers, but not so much

They are supposed to continue to treat this pair with respect and love. But Floriana Lima (Maggie Sawyer) will not be able to participate with the same frequency that in the second season and happens of being regular to recurrent in this third season.

CW has decided to bring a new version of the character, a millionaire guy and villain, who will be Supergirl’s nemesis by association, because in reality his confrontation will be with Lena Luthor.

The character is Morgan Edge, known to fans of DC, and will be played by Adrian Pasdar.

New showrunners

Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner will be Supergirl’s new showrunners. If you have no idea of their work here we leave some information about it:

Queller has been featured as a showrunner for Gossip Girl, Blood and Oil, The Carrie Diaries and Gimore Girl.

Rovner has worked with: Crossing Jordan, Bionic Woman (2007), Private Practice and the Dallas revival. And also shares credit with Queller in Blood & Oil.

New Characters

We will have the opportunity to see Carl Lumbly perform in flesh and blood M’yrnn J’onzz, the father of J’onn J’onzz, who has lent him the voice in animation.

Yael Grobglas, whom perhaps they recognize of Jane the Virgin, will be the villain Psi.

Emma Tremblay will be Ruby, who has a fascination with Supergirl and because of that she will be in danger.

Chris Wood will return as I say Mon-El, even though Earth’s air is deadly to him.

We also know that Calista Flockhart will return as Cat Grant recurrently, one of the best news of the season, no doubt.

The theme

What does it mean to be human? This is the question that the third season will try to interpret through its characters, including Kara herself.

This gives us the impression that they are trying to give it a dark and macabre touch that is trend lately on TV.
